Season 6

Back to School


Synopsis:
Nellie graduates from school, and gets her own restaurant. But she has problem - who's gonna do the cooking? Meanwhile Laura falls for Almanzo Wilder, brother of the new teacher Miss Eliza Jane Wilder.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie is running to the outhouse. Ma says she’s just excited because it’s the first day of school. When she returns she is told she only has 2 minutes to get ready, but she says she’ll hurry and finishes getting dressed and asks Ma to help her with the buttons.
- When they’ve been talking to Mrs Oleson Carrie drops one of her books, but is quick to pick it up when it’s time for school.
- Watch Carrie's face when she's applauding Nellie's speech! Like the rest of the class she doesn't look too impressed!
- When they are going to see Nellie's present, Carrie collides with Andy - but he steps back, and lets her go first. He always seemed to be nice to Carrie!
- Carrie asks Laura to help her with her homework, but Laura says she’ll do it later. Luckily Albert says he’ll help her instead.

The Family Tree


Synopsis:
The kids have a new school project - to make their own family tree! Nellie teases Albert about him not knowing anything about his family. Albert tells Charles about his problems, and asks to be adopted.
Carrie moments:
- A sweet Carrie & Laura scene! When Albert runs off to go fishing, Laura tells Carrie they are going to go check the mail, and they happily walk there together.

The Third Miracle


Synopsis:
Laura and Albert are selling honey, and have a deal with Mr. Oleson who has promised them a lot of money for it. But he is away, and Mrs. Oleson does not want to pay as much as promised. Adam wins the Louis Braille award, and is asked to give a speech in St. Paul. But Adam and Mary can’t afford the trip.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie asks Ma why Laura and Albert won’t let her help them, and Ma explains that they don’t want her to get hurt. Carrie complains that the bees probably don’t that Laura and Albert are older than she is!
- When Pa says they are all going to tell Mary and Adam the good news, Carrie hopefully asks Ma if she can go, but is told no. She’ll have to stay home and watch Grace. Carrie objects, saying Pa said they would all go, and Ma gets angry with her.

Annabelle


Synopsis:
A circus comes to town! Nels recognizes the fat lady, Annabelle, who is his sister. But he is too embarrassed by her, and doesn’t tell anyone they are related.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie appears to be having a lot of fun at the circus!

The Preacher Takes a Wife


Synopsis:
Reverend Alden is starting to feel lonely, and when Mrs Craig asks him to have supper with her he accepts. But when Mrs Craig reveals that she’s in love with him, the Reverend is at first bothered by it, but soon agrees to get to know her better. But Mrs. Oleson sees the two of them holding hands, and decides to put a stop to it.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie is racing to the wagon with Laura and Albert, is able to climb into it without any help.
- When Carrie waves to Mrs. Craig, she at first waves with her right hand, but quickly decides that the left one will work better!

The Halloween Dream


Synopsis:
Albert and Laura are going to Nellie’s Halloween party dressed as Indians. They are told to take a nap first, and Albert dreams that on the way to the party they meet real Indians, who think that Albert is the son of chief Running Bull.
Carrie moments:
- When Pa says Halloween is supposed to be scary, Carrie replies: "I don't like Halloween because there's ghosts and things that can eat you up when you're asleep". Poor girl!
- Carrie says that according to Laura, the ghosts eat your mouth first so you can’t scream. Now that’s scary!
- When Pa tells Carrie she can put in the candle, he is clearing expecting her to be thrilled by it, but her less-than-thrilled reaction isn’t surprising. How exciting is it for a 10-year-old to put in a candle in a lantern? Obviously she is still scared, plus it must seem unfair that Laura and Albert get to wear costumes and go to a party!
- Carrie goes inside and sees a ghost! But it turns out to be baby Grace.

The Return of Mr. Edwards


Synopsis:
Mr. Edwards saves Alicia from a falling tree, but is caught under it himself. He survives, but appears to have given up on life, and Grace writes to Charles asking for help. Charles decides to visit the Edwards family, and Caroline thinks he should take Laura with him.

The King is Dead


Synopsis:
Milo goes away to wrestle even though he is too old for it. But his wife is ill, and they need the money to pay the hospital bills. Milo is told to pick a fight with Jonathan and let him win. Jonathan is then convinced to represent Hero Township in a real wrestling match against Milo.

The Faith Healer


Synopsis:
Reverend Danforth arrives in Walnut Grove and claims he has the ability to heal people. When more and more people choose to go to Reverend Danforth’s meetings instead of attending church, Reverend Alden starts to worry.

- Episode does not contain many scenes with Carrie…

Author! Author!



Synopsis:
Caroline’s parents are coming for a visit, since they want to see Mary’s baby. But Caroline’s mother dies on the way there, and her father seems to get more and more depressed. But Albert is able to get through to him, and soon Grandpa is telling the kids stories about when Caroline was little. Laura thinks he should write the stories down.
Carrie moments:
- Laura and Carrie are hugging at the funeral.
- Carrie is really enjoying Grandpa’s stories! She looks so happy!

Crossed Connections


Synopsis:
Walnut Grove now has telephones, with Mrs. Oleson running the switchboard. Alice is happy to be able to talk to her mother, but during a conversation Alice’s ex-husband, who’s been in jail, is mentioned. Mrs. Oleson has been listening in, and tells Nellie, who tells Andy - who in turns tells his Pa. Jonathan, who didn’t know Alice had been married before, gets very upset.

The Angry Heart


Synopsis:
Little Tod hates his abusive father, and does not grieve when he is shot. At age 17 he comes to visit his grandparents in Walnut Grove, but he has a lot of anger and even becomes abusive towards his grandfather, and steals Charles’ watch.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie is competing in the games with “Clay“! Unfortunately they fall, but they are quickly up and running again. Obviously having a lot of fun!
- Carrie wakes up scared and says something is crawling on her - but it turns out to be only Bandit.

The Werewolf of Walnut Grove



Synopsis:
A new family has arrived in Walnut Grove, and the son Bart turns out to be a real bully in school. His father blames Miss Wilder, since Bart behaves at home, and Miss Wilder feels that she has failed and wants to quit. But Laura and Albert come up with a plan to scare Bart.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie asks Miss Wilder if there are really werewolves.
- Carrie agrees to feed baby Grace, even though Laura was supposed to, when she is promised to stay up an extra half hour. But Grace doesn’t want to eat, and Carrie tries very hard to convince her, even telling her “Come on, or I’ll tell”. Then she sadly realizes “There’s nobody here to tell”.
- She goes out to tell Laura to feed Grace, and ends up ruining Laura and Albert’s plan.
- When Laura says Carrie didn’t tell on Albert, Carrie (clearly hurt) says “I said I wouldn’t”. But Laura says Carrie also said she would stay inside - which is a lie since Carrie never agreed to that - and Carrie objects “it wasn’t my fault”. Had Laura and Albert only told Carrie their plan none of this would have had happened.

Whatever Happened to the Class of '56


Synopsis:
Charles is going to represent Walnut Grove at a grange meeting, and Caroline is going with him. They will also be attending the 25th reunion party of their class - the class of 1856.
Carrie moments:
- Episode does not contain many scenes with Carrie…

Darkness is My Friend


Synopsis:
Adam, Caroline, Hester Sue and Harriet are going away to ask for money for the blind school, and Laura is going to spend the night with Mary at the blind school. But 3 prisoners escape during a train transport and show up at the blind school.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie looks so depressed when she sees the food Albert has cooked! Guess she’s tasted big brother’s cooking before! When Grace starts to cry, Carrie is quick to explain what is wrong with her - "she just tasted it".
- When Pa says they’ll have popcorn for supper, Carrie looks thrilled!
- Albert is reading Carrie a scary bed time story, but she seems to think it’s really funny!

Silent Promises


Synopsis:
Laura saves Daniel, a deaf boy, from being run over by horses. Doc baker tries to convince his father the boy needs teaching, and Laura decides she can teach him! At first his father is against it, but he’s very happy when Laura shows him how to communicate with his son through sigh language. But Daniel falls for Laura, who decides to wear his ring, even though she doesn’t’ really love him.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie is playing with her dolls, and at bedtime is told by Caroline to take her family with her - she’s been stepping on dolls all day. Carrie now has 3 dolls! (and it looks like she’s borrowed one from Grace).
- When Albert says he's been talking to Bandit, Carrie says that Bandit can't talk - he's a dog. Albert says he talks to him, and Carrie decides to give it a try. When he (of course) doesn't reply, Carrie says "all right, I want talk to you either".

May We Make Them Proud


Synopsis:
Albert and his friend Clay are down in the basement of the blind school smoking a pipe. They leave it there, and that night there is a fire in the blind school. Sadly both Alice Garvey and Adam Kendall Jr die in the fire.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie and Laura are holding hands with baby Grace at the celebration. The three of them seem to get along great.
- Later the three of them are together again, throwing pebbles into Plum Creek.

Wilder and Wilder


Synopsis:
Perley Day Wilder, Almanzo’s younger brother, comes for a visit, and Charles decides he would be suitable for Laura, who still only has eyes for Almanzo. Meanwhile, Albert falls for a new girl, Penelope, who only has eyes for Andrew.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie spots Bandit in his doghouse and tells him to get out - it’s not a doghouse it’s HER playhouse! Love the attitude! :)
- Carrie is not having dinner with the rest of the family, when Perley Day is there. Grace is also missing, maybe the two of them ate earlier?
- During the arm-wrestle Laura and Carrie are whispering to each other.
- Carrie is happily cheering for Albert during the pig-catch.

Second Spring


Synopsis:
Nels is tired of his family, and of doing all the cooking, and decides to leave Walnut Grove to be a travelling salesman. When he meets Molly, who runs a boarding house, he tells her he is not married.
Carrie moments:
- Episode does not contain many scenes with Carrie…

Sweet Sixteen


Synopsis:
Even though Laura’s 16th birthday is two weeks away she is asked to teach at the school in Curry, since the teacher there has broken her leg. Almanzo offers to drive her back and forth every weekend.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie is dancing with a boy at the party.

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not


Synopsis:
Almanzo asks Laura to marry him, but when Charles says they will have to wait until she is 18, Almanzo gets upset and insists Laura go against her father’s wishes. They fight and Almanzo leave Walnut Grove. Percival Dalton is hired by Mr. Oleson to teach Nellie to cook.
Carrie moments:
- Carrie seems to really enjoy throwing the rice at Nellie's wedding!
