Robert Marien was born on May 5, 1956. He first played the part of Jean Valjean in the 1991 Paris production of Les Misérables, and went on to play the part in Montreal (1991), London (1996-1997), Broadway (1997-1998 - which included the special Broadway Tenth Anniversary performance) and in Montreal as part of the Third National Tour (1999). In the Les Misérables Tenth Anniversary Concert in London (1995), Robert was the Valjean chosen to represent France.
Robert also played the lead character in the musical Taudis, in Paris, Montreal and London, as well as playing Frollo in the 1999 Quebec production of Notre-Dame de Paris. He has also recorded a solo album called Broadway-Montreal (1997) and an album with Christmas songs called La Voix des Anges (2000).
Robert's acting credits include several French TV series and TV movies called Lance et compte: Lance et compte (1986), Lance et compte II (1988), Lance et compte III (1989), Lance et compte: Tous pour un (1991), Lance et compte: Le retour du chat (1991), Lance et compte: Le crime de Lulu (1991), Lance et compte - La nouvelle génération (2002) and Lance et compte: La recomputed (2004).
He has also starred in the TV series Sous un ciel variable (1995) and Les Super mamies (2002).
