Philip Quast was born on July 30, 1957 in Australia. He is married and has three sons. Philip graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1979, and went on to perform in a number of theatre productions.
In 1987 Philip played the part of Javert in the Australian production of Les MisÚrables - which won him a Mo Award and a Sydney Critics Award. In 1989 he went to London to again play Javert. He also did the part in Manchester (1992) and Adelaide (Australia) (1990-1991). Philip was also chosen to play Javert in the Les MisÚrables Tenth Anniversary Concert in 1995.
Over the years, Philip has had a successful career, doing theatre and musicals in both the United Kingdom and Australia, which includes playing the part of Peron in the 2006 London production of Evita.
He has also released a solo album called Philip Quast - Live at the Donmar.
Philip received the Laurence Olivier Award in 1991 (Sunday in the Park with George), 1998 (The Fix) and 2002 (South Pacific). For his performance in The Secret Garden (1995) he won a Sydney Critics Award and two Mo Awards.
