The Phantom of the Opera is without a doubt the musical I have wanted to see for the longest time. Ever since it premiered here in Sweden back in 1989 I wanted to see it, but sadly I was never able to see that production. Now, 20 years later I was finally able to see this amazing musical - in London.

Even though my expectations of the musical were very high, I was still blown away by it. The effects are really spectacular, and as we had great seats (third row) the effects became extra cool I suspect. Especially the scenes with the huge chandelier first being rised up to the ceiling, and later crashing down were very memorable.
The cast were also great, and it was really magical show. One big reason I wanted to see this production was that Gareth Snook plays Monsieur André. I have wanted to see him in a live performance for several years now, and was very disappointed when I noticed he wasn't in the show that evening. His understudy (Craig Nichols) did a good job, but it was of course a disappointment not to get to see one of my favourite musical performers.

I was really happy to get to see Simon Bailey (Raoul) again. I saw him as Enjolras in Les Misérables back in 2006 where he was really impressive. Again, I was really amazed by his talent! He did a wonderful job playing Raoul.

Gina Beck played Christine, and was truely the star of the show. What a beautiful voice, and what a talented actress she is! I saw her too in Les Misérables in 2006 (as Cosette) and although I did think she was good, I think the part of Cosette is bit more difficult to like. But here she really got to shine.

Ramin Karimloo played the Phantom, and although he was good, I think I might have had too high expectations on the poor man.It was also nice to see Barry James - another Les Miz performer (Thénardier in 2008). Here he played Monsieur Firmin and was really funny! The character rather reminded me of Thénardier

This really was a wonderful show, and I truely enjoyed seeing it. I especially liked Gina and Simon, but the whole cast did a great job.
