On December 17 I got to see Swedish singer and musical performer Niklas Andersson again. This time at a Lucia/Christmas concert at the mall Nordstan in Gothenburg. Of course this was an amazing concert - and very Christmassy!
Niklas started out with the song “Ain’t Misbehaving”, which really set the mood for the entire concert. Then it was time for the classic “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)”, which was a big success with the audience! It was perfectly sung, and for me the first time I’ve had any sense of Christmas spirit at all this winter. (We’ve had an unusually warm December, with no snow at all).
After that it was time for a great musical number. Niklas is currently playing the part of Munkustrap in Cats (at the Gothenburg Opera), and since that character doesn’t really have any hit songs, Niklas decided to borrow the song “Memory”. I have to say this was the best version I’ve ever heard of the song - and I think everyone else in the audience agreed with that! It was very popular!
A little later Niklas appeared on stage again, together with the Lucia group to sing two Christmas songs. First the Swedish “Jul, Jul, Strålande Jul” and then the Swedish version of “O Holy Night”. Both songs were really beautiful!
I really enjoyed this concert. Niklas is always a wonderful singer, and it’s great to see him at a live performance! I loved every single song that was sung, but I think my big favourites were “Memory“, “O Holy Night“ and “The Christmas Song”.
